Cameroon’s law enforcement consists of two primary forces, the National Police which is under the Presidency.
And then there is the Gendarmerie Nationale which happens to be a a paramilitary force under the Ministry of Defense.

Policemen are tasked to maintain public order, investigate crimes, manage traffic, and support counter-terrorism efforts against separatist conflicts in the Anglophone region.
Officers typically wear dark blue or khaki uniforms, often with berets, epaulets, and insignia denoting ranks.
The National Police focuses on urban areas and civilian security, while the Gendarmerie handles rural zones, highways, and paramilitary duties.

In fact it was noted that both security forces contribute to internal security, with specialized units like mobile squadrons in the Gendarmerie.
