Pennsylvania Expands Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program — Eligible Residents to Receive Up to $1,000 in 2025

Harrisburg, PA — October 7, 2025 — The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has announced expanded financial support for thousands of residents through the Property Tax and Rent Rebate (PTRR) Program, offering rebates of up to $1,000. This initiative, strengthened under Act 7 of 2023 signed by Governor Josh Shapiro, is aimed at providing direct relief to seniors, widows, and individuals with disabilities struggling with property taxes and rent costs.

The PTRR Program, one of Pennsylvania’s most established relief measures, has already distributed billions of dollars to vulnerable households. With this latest expansion, an estimated 175,000 additional Pennsylvanians are expected to qualify for rebates this year.

Expanded Eligibility

Under the current guidelines, residents may qualify for the PTRR rebate if they meet the following requirements:

  • Age 65 or older
  • Widows or widowers aged 50 or older
  • Individuals with disabilities aged 18 or older
  • Annual household income of $46,520 or less
  • Residency in Pennsylvania

The amount of the rebate depends on household income. Eligible applicants may receive the following:

Application Deadline

How to Apply

Applications can be completed online through the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue’s official website, where a step-by-step video tutorial is available. Once processed, approved applicants will receive their rebates via direct deposit or mailed check.
